Maponya Developments are property developers and project managers specialising in commercial and light industrial developments.
Maponya Developments was formed in 1997 and brings together a number of experienced and established property developers. Property development is done for our own account and for third parties. Project management entails acting as construction professionals, normally for third parties.
Our company has completed over R400 million worth of developments since their inception.
We have successfully completed a variety of developments of the last seven years.

RICHARD MAPONYA
Richard Maponya is one of the elder statesmen of black business in South Africa. After starting out as a teacher, his career as entrepreneur has led to successful involvement in the property, grocery, soft drink and motor vehicle industries. Richard has recently completed a highly successful redevelopment of one of his Soweto properties for Shoprite Checkers. Richard sits on the board of the Nelson Mandela Children’s fund. |

SOLLY MAPONYA
Solly Maponya is an entrepreneur and operates the Maponya Group businesses. He has been involved in the management of businesses ranging from the vehicle industry, project management, telecommunications and major road maintenance. |

DONALD BORTHWICK
Donald Borthwick is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive local and international project management experience. This includes projects in the oil industry and in banking. International projects included grinding mills and "mud plants" in Africa and large-scale bank process installations in the United Kingdom.
Local projects include industrial and commercial buildings. He has been developing properties since 1994.

GAVIN BORTHWICK
Gavin Borthwick is a Quantity Surveyor and has been a building contractor and developer in the Greater Durban area for over thirty years. In this time he has constructed some 250,000 square metres of commercial and industrial property including factories, warehouses, offices, multi storey factories and offices, shops and luxury houses. |

NEIL LURIE
Neil Lurie, has been actively involved in property development for twenty two years.

Mason Lecuona is a qualified Quantity Surveyor with vast experience in building economics studies, specialising in building feasibilities. He has worked for the last six years as a Property Investment Manager. |
